Yoga Playgrounds Weekend Workshops

With Leah Kalish, MA
In the Yoga Playgrounds Weekend Training (20 hour), participants learn fun and effective ways to plan and present yoga to children ages 3 – 12 at home, at school, in the yoga studio or therapeutic session. Using the Yoga Power Curriculum and Pizza Party DVD as the guide and template, you will learn how to transform yoga practices into playgrounds of self-discovery to optimize physical, mental, emotional and social-emotional health and well-being.

  • Cultivate a more sensitive listening to children, students and patients
  • Experience how to hold a safe, supportive and empowering space

  • Provide engaging and educational yoga classes

  • Plan and lead theme-based yoga classes with games and activities

  • Use yoga techniques for self-care, stress management and self-regulation

  • Progressively nurture self-awareness, resilience and social harmony

  • Help kids sustain well-being through healthy choices

Open to all yoga practitioners who desire to share the benefits of yoga with kids - yoga teachers, parents, classroom/PE teachers, counselors and para-professionals.

October 12 - 14th, 2012, Leah leads a Yoga Playgrounds Training at the Yoga Works in Walnut Creek, CA, just outside San Francisco. Anyone with a yoga practice who works/play/loves children is welcome. Learn how to translate yoga philosophy, tools and techniques into a playground of fun, nurturing and empowering practices for children.

Leah Kalish, MA is a recognized expert and national speaker dedicated to health and empowerment through yoga and creative play.  She has taught at Omega, Kripalu and Esalen and authored many successful yoga-based curricula and products for companies such as Yoga Ed., Barefoot Books, Gaiam and School Specialty. Her work has been featured in Yoga Journal, Yoga Plus, Vanity Fair and Integral Yoga Magazine. She now produces her own play-based educational resources for young children through her company Move with Me Action Adventures (move-with-me.com).
